With this in mind Bob Worek was searching for an OPC compatible package
that would create the atmosphere for the company’s devices to operate,
record and control current events from anywhere in the world.
He says, “We had a couple of projects in the far east where we
had purchased PID controllers at the beginning of the jobs and contracted
a company to help us integrate them. Within three weeks they had given up the project and left us in a
scramble. So it was great to
find, through the resourcefulness of the Internet, Saturn from Hexatec,
that could be adapted to our needs quickly, was priced conservatively, and
that we could begin working on immediately. Within 24 hours I had the
beginning of a result.
Hexatec, an established provider of high quality advanced industrial
software, has recently launched a new PC-SCADA solution called Saturn.
By making this software available from its web site at
www.hexatec.com,
the company is able to offer quality software at extremely competitive
prices. Whether a
simple HMI or manufacturing management system is needed,
Saturn links seamlessly with other core business software such as back
office, providing a powerful management tool that will view and report on
production processes effortlessly.
“We are using the Saturn software, in conjunction with industry
standard PID controllers for temperature, pressure and flow rate control
of the devices that we are sub-contracted to manufacturer in the Far East.
The product is very intuitive which makes it easy to learn and
where we did have questions, we found the Hexatec staff very helpful.
Ultimately we chose Saturn because it is sophisticated, yet price
competitive.
“The recorders option allows us to retrieve information throughout
the process and retain it for future records, as well as the ability to
tailor it to the end product that is required from that production run.
What’s more, I can mimic the same results and instantaneously
document them from anywhere in the world.
“All the competitors software available in the market can only be
tried once it is purchased, so you can find that you have something that
doesn’t perform the way it is supposed to and you really can’t use.
The primary benefit of Saturn is that you can demo the product and
do all adjustments prior to the final purchase.
After all, wouldn’t we all like to drive our motors for a month
before we purchase them?”
