SCAN1000v5 on CD is supplied with a fully licensed version of Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition.

Moving on from MSDE 2000

This version of SQL Server - which replaces MSDE 2000 - has all the advantages of the full system, but designed specifically for use with a single application. The workload limitations of MSDE 2000 are gone, allowing multiple user access without performance problems.

New Tools

Powerful new configuration and maintenance utilities have been included on the CD. These allow stand-alone systems to be maintained easily. Previously, either Enterprise Manager (from a licensed copy of SQL Server) or a third party maintenance tool was needed. Databases can be created, modified and moved with ease!

SQL Server Integration

Express Edition can be treated as just another server by a fully installed version. This allows for example, DTS processed to be used against it to automatically transfer and modify data as it is captured. Even when the final destination for data is a full implementation of SQL server on a corporate server, using a local copy of Express Edition for front end data capture allows continued operation regardless of network state, system maintenance etc.

What's Included

Due to the size of the installs for Express Edition, only the CD version of SCAN1000v5 includes the facilities. A downloadable version of the CD is available as an ISO image, suitable for creation of a standard CD with most popular CD burning packages - please contact our office for details.
