Latest Round of Internet
Viruses Causing Suspicious Emails
November 2005
The latest round of the
viruses MyDoom, Bagle, and Netsky are now sending out emails that appear to
originate from many places for they choose to "spoof" the "from" address by
pulling information from emails you have received, your email address book, and
more.
Unfortunately, this can
result in innocent customers receiving emails that may appear to originate from
here. It is even more unfortunate that the creators of these viruses spoof the
from addresses, and then relay the mail out using anonymous mail servers - so
its not like we can even stop the mails from being sent because they never touch
our mail servers.
The latest round addresses
users as "users of hexatec.com" and attempts to tell you that your email has
been infected or it attempts to entice you to open a password protected
attachment. DO NOT OPEN SUSPICIOUS EMAIL.
We run the latest versions
of a variety of anti-virus protection on our mail servers and on all servers and
desktops in our organisation. All steps are taken to insure that virus
protection profiles are kept current automatically, for your protection and
ours. We take anti-virus protection very seriously in all of our operations.
If you have any questions or
concerns, you are welcome to contact us and ask about anything you have
received.
Our contact information is on our Home page.
You can learn more about the
nature of these viruses at:

We encourage all of our
users to insure they have the most current virus protection on their computers
and do not open suspicious attachments.
