SCAN1000 -Scada: Connecting to Process Control Systems
Built-In Drivers
SCAN1000 includes a range of built-in communication drivers.

These include

Tags

All I/O data values appear as Tags in the SCAN1000 design tree so data points can be easily added to; display pages, alarms, charts, spreadsheets, databases, etc.

Data Emulation

It is not always possible to connect to live plant control when configuring or supporting a system, so SCAN1000 includes a Data Emulation Server to make it easier and safer to develop and test a configuration.

3rd Party Drivers
Fundamental to the collection of data is the ability to collect data from process equipment of every sort. Control equipment such as: DCS computers, PLC’s and measurement equipment such as: meters, loggers, data acquisition devices, etc.

As well as the range of directly supported protocols and hardware, SCAN1000 can access a wide range of other devices and products.

Many manufacturers use Modbus as an open standard and a full list can be found on the Modbus Foundation’s web-site ( http://www.modbus.org ). For a more detailed information about Modbus refer to our White Paper Modbus Communications

OPC (OLE for Process Control) is a successful open standard for communications and many companies now offer OPC servers for:

  • Siemens
  • Omron
  • Fischer
  • DNP 3.0
  • BacNet
  • SNMP
  • Honeywell
  • Johnson Controls

For more information, see OPC Servers

SCAN1000 supports OPC both as a Client and as a Server

Also refer to: Matrikon, Kepware, OPC Foundation and others for a full list of compatible device ‘Servers’.
